I was suprised that no one had started a topic about Doha, Qatar. Doha is a city of around 438k going through amazing growth.

I am warning you, this is a big thread, so be prepared to be shocked!!! This city is the next Dubai.

Some of these other areas are pretty slow. I posted a little on some of the other areas of the world only to never get a response. By the way thanks for posting the pics. Yeah there's quite a bit going on over in Dubai from what I've heard. Do you have any info on the general culture and such there? I'm not so phobic to the Middle East as a lot of people are these days. I was also wondering if you had any pics of more traditional architecture. I always thought that many of the mosques are very beautiful buildings.

Impressive. I had never even heard of this city. Qatar is only going to grow in wealth as it has enough oil for 23 years before they reach their 'peak oil'.

Yeah I think the National Library is a particularly futuristic design.

The Al Maha Sofitel Hotel has been approved for Doha. The Hotel will be located in West Bay Doha.

It will be twin 27 story towers with 300 rooms and suites, restaurants, bars, banquet and meeting facilities, extensive leisure, fitness and recreational facilities, and is scheduled for completion by mid 2007. It will be managed by Accor Hotels.

I managed to find a rendering of what the Doha Sports City Tower will look like.

This tower will be 300 Metres tall once completed.

I've heard this one is under construction, but I've had no luck in finding construction photos.

thanks brother , well the new airport is close to Doha current airport and will be from the sea side ( behind the current airpot ) the contract is 5 billion dollar with Bechtel ( american company ) and they willing to finished the first stage in 2009 byway they will keep the current airport for Qatar Airways so will be there 2 airport with same name ( Doha International Airport ) so they changed the name of the new airport to ( New Doha International Airport (NDIA) )

Ah, I wondered about this.

I also wonder how much emplaments will increase in the airport. I can see Doha becoming a regional hub in the Mid-East, and possibly in the Eastern Hemisphere.

I'm glad another Qatarian has decided to come aboard to UP!! To answer your question, I get most of my info really just searching around on the internet. It helps to have family and friends in Doha who update you. Sometimes I just get info from Gowealthy.com or a few others.
