Just wondering what the status is on a few buildings. I was wondering about 35 Oakes SW(old apartment building that looks like its owner by Rockford), the building on the west side of Commerce between Oakes and Weston, and the old eye sore across the street from the transit center Bartlett and Grandville. Good question. It seems like the whole Cherry Street Landing development has slowed to a halt. Are they doing anything? Whatever happened to the rowhouses on the west side of Ionia?

From what I have heard, they are putting some of the buildings up for sale. That way they can control what is developed in the area. It kind of sounds like they took on a bigger project than they can handle. How about those corporate offices that they were promising for the area?

I think that Cherry St. Landing was more of a prospect than a project. Not something they ever planned on tackling all at once.

Regardless, Rockford Construction has made a lot of promises that they haven't delivered: House of Blues, residents/retail/restaurants, corporate offices, brownstones. They still haven't been to even fill the ground floor space of the building that replaced the Milner. Overall, it has been turned into more of a suburban development with all its surface parking lots between the buildings that were developed. GRDad will back me up on that one.
