The Lofts at Merchant's Row is a project which is converting a block of old office buildings across from the Compuware Building into 157 new loft apartments. Retail will be at street level. Rumor has it that a Banana Republic and a Starbucks will be among those retailers moving in.

This pic was taken last week by Lowell from the Fab Ruins Forums. Construction is well underway. The building in the middle was removed because the floors did not line up with the floors of the other buildings on the block. I think the new building is very out of place, however. It is too tall...it needs to be shorter, IMO. Supposedly it is just temporary and will be built out with something more in keeping with the rest of the block later on. All in all, this is a great project. Hopefully the development will spead to the other blocks on Woodward.
