Well I'm not gonna debate whether or not we should put politician's names on things or not, BUT if we are gonna do it, no better politician to honor from the State of Florida than Bob Graham. He was responsible for the cool new bridge being built quickly after the old one was hit and people lost their lives.

It's much better than the dumb idea to name the Turnpike after Ronald Reagan.......mainly because he wasn't even from Florida and barely even came to visit here. That one irks me every time I see the sign while cruising down the Turnpike.

I don't like peoples names on things either, unless they have been dead for a while. Lee Roy Selmon Expressway is a joke.

Lee Roy Selmon Expressway has to be the worst. It's one thing to name a road, trail, airport, etc after someone influential who had a hand in shaping the country, state, county or had a hand in getting that project but to name these items after sports figures is just a travesty. The whole Ray Charles thing for Nebraska ave was/is just crazy.

You are right about the paint job TallTampa. I drove over it less than a month ago, before that it had been about a year since I'd been over the bridge. I was taking my nephew over it for his first time last month I told him how beautiful the view from the bridge is (especially coming from Manatee Cnty) and how neat the bridge is. However when I saw how the paint was peeling, I was rather disappointed and never remembered it looking that bad in past.

Bob Graham's hometown is Miami, but to have a major Tampa bridge named after him shows how he has transcended regional differences to become a true statesman. Never liked him all that much but it is great news to see that the state and Tampa in particular are considering honoring him. He did do great things for the Sunshine state.
