This is a brief tour of Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood, focusing on the Universities of Pittsburgh and Carnegie-Mellon. This is by no means a comprehensive tour, as there is MUCH more to this large neighborhood.

Again, great pics Evergrey . . . for those of you from outside the 'burgh Oakland (or as my out-of-towner conscious ways like to put it "The University District") is the 3rd largest commute destination in the state of Pennsylvania, it is also the fastest growing commute destination in the state! For a commonwealth with the likes of the megaplex of Philly and the major city of Pittsburgh in it that is a major achievement for what in reality is a "neighborhood"!

Carnegie Mellon, Carlow, Chatham, University of Pittsburgh all call this area home and the beauty as Everygrey has documented is amazing!

Thanks again EG for sharing!

Ahh, good old Oakland! Memories of my college days! I have always adored that neighborhood. The mix of old and new buildings, the students and the business-people and the panhandlers and everyone just mixing together. Always changing.

One of my favorite pics is the one of the steep cobble-stone street (Halket?). It looks like everything is about to fall out of the picture and onto my desk.

It looks like Chesterfield Rd. to me. Halket isn't steep and isn't asphalt.
