That makes some sense, although they better be a top outfit if they are going to be that close to QT.  On the the other hand they are on the other side of the street from QT and come before QT for Southbound traffic.

Surprised the City would allow that type of business there?  I am guessing it may be some cheap looking building too.  What happened to the nice revitalization plan for this corridor?

Not in the city limits. It could annex if they choose to, as it is contiguous. The County is the main driver of the Corridor plans, the city is a stakeholder though.

I don't think the city does allow them.  They used to be at 516 Rutherford.  I assume they just moved outside the city.  That is the same reason Cash America on Pleasantburg is moving down the street from their current location as well.

City only allows pawn shops in S-1 zoning (unless they are able to get a variance or some other measure).

Anyone know if the development applied for a water tap with Greenville Water? That would determine if the city can annex it or not.

Perhaps they will build the building then annex, so it can't be turned down as easily.

Well, even with that, the city can force the use out after a period of time. I think it was five years.

Right now, the things I can see that would stop the city from annexing are:

1) No water tap was needed so therefore there is no water covenant

2) The city doesn't want the property for varying issues

Well that's actually pretty cool a lot of the low income areas right behind there I'm sure could use the jobs and with them being so close some people could walk right to it.

^^ Yeah. I wish they would keep the building that is still standing though. It has some nice Art Deco lines and the greenest building is the one that is already built.
