An article in the City Paper taday in an interview with Congressman Jim Cooper states the new Federal Courthouse is slated to start construction in 2007 and is still on track. This is good to know. We will have two major construction projects going on Church street at the same time with the construction of the Signature slated to start in 2007 as well.

I hope he's right and that this timescale doesn't slip out even farther than 2007. You never know until the digging starts. This is especially true with government projects, especially when the government is running huge deficits.

I know its right around the corner but 2007 just seems so far away. However if these two projects stay on track it will be a beautiful sight.

The Federal Courthouse will start sooner than expected...Believe me, it will. It was a condition of the sale of the Renaissance. BTW the Renaissance sold this past week.

6.6 million in rehab money. The new owner was excited about the business potential from the courthouse.

Sliding and revolving doors, new lobby, new front entrance, new front drive, access to the Commerce Street Grill from the street and a whole lot more. $600,000 just on the entrance!

I like the idea of the Grill entrance. Demos' is always full of people and it'll be nice to open to the street in a similar way and see things going on inside.
