tim2462
Thanks for posting those stories. Everytime I go to that website, there are never any good articles, I guess I don't look often enough. That whole sports complex sounds really great. That will be something to really help the AR side. Sports and Fitness are big with newcomers to any area.
mcheiss
So Texarkana has a minor League Hockey Team? If so, that's amazing for a metro that small.
Enique
Wadley is one of the hospitals there....there are billboards in town that say, "Take me to Wadley" lol but in reality, no one really wants to go to Wadley. really?? I thought that Wadley was ok. I remember when they were the only hospital in Texarkana to deliver babies.
tim2462
LOL I don't know...I know some nurses that live in Texarkana, TX that commute to Little Rock 3 days per week and they didn't speak very highly of Wadley...but opinions differ. NCB
I-49 Funding http://www.texarkanagazette.com/articles/2...s/news14.tt.txt Hey guys, I have around 10 pictures of Highway 549 from Fouke-Texarkana, and a few of the loop around Texarkana. Would you like me to post them?

tim2462
Yes! I've heard it's pretty scenic...but will probably look better when the trees are bloomed.
Aporkalypse
So Texarkana has a minor League Hockey Team? If so, that's amazing for a metro that small. I thought they lost that team. Are they still playing there. The Central Hockey League had teams in a lot of small metros in Texas as well - places like Tyler, Abiline, and Amarillo. That same league had the first hockey team in Little Rock, the Glaciercats.
bigboyz05
I thought they lost that team. Are they still playing there. The Central Hockey League had teams in a lot of small metros in Texas as well - places like Tyler, Abiline, and Amarillo. That same league had the first hockey team in Little Rock, the Glaciercats. When hockey first came here we were known as the Border City Bandits. Then we lost the team because of financial problems/poor attendance. About a few years ago hockey was brought back and we became the Texarkana Bandits. Attendance is a lot better now. Hey guys, I have around 10 pictures of Highway 549 from Fouke-Texarkana, and a few of the loop around Texarkana. Would you like me to post them? Hey NCB! Good to see you're back. Can't wait to see your pics.

skirby
Question: Is TLC Burgers and Fries still in business and has anything been done with the train station?
Mith242
I guess the hockey team could be on the Texas side but I find it interesting that the only hockey I know of that could possibly be in the state is in Texarkana. I wonder what allows them to support a team and not other metros around the state.
Enique
hwy 549 is nice. I would like to see it completed to Shreveport. Don't know when thats gonna happen though. I just returned from Texarkana a few days ago. I didn't see much in town, but I did see the new Louisiana Boarkwalk in Shreveport.

I wonder what allows them to support a team and not other metros around the state. Actually, their home right now is the Four States Fairgrounds which is located on the Arkansas side. They will remain there until the arena is built. All I can say is that we are very loyal to our city. Another thing, I thought Little Rock had a team? Question: Is TLC Burgers and Fries still in business and has anything been done with the train station? I think that burger place is still open. The train station has been renovated. bigboyz05
Did any of you know that Texarkana used to have city bus service until the 60's and we didn't get it back until 2000? I never knew why. Our system now is called The T Line. I'm pretty sure you can guess what the T stands for.

bigboyz05
Do you have ridership numbers on the Bus System? The numbers for last year were over 210,000.
mcheiss
That's about what Ft. Smith did on Ridership with their bus system last year.
bigboyz05
The transit authority is already talking about expanding some routes and creating new ones because of all the construction of new businesses and roads. I'm sure this will impact numbers as well.
bigboyz05
That's about what Ft. Smith did on Ridership with their bus system last year. Does Ft. Smith's system just cover Ft. Smith or does it also extend into the suburbs like Barling, Van Buren and Arkoma? Also do you know if Pine Bluff has a transit system?
mcheiss
I'm almost positive it's just Ft. Smith.
