New Statues downtown...?

Unfortunately, this represents a trade-off between an existing bike rack (in place less than a year) and public art. I wish these two installations could coexist.

I thought it was weird they weren't pouring a fresh slab for this thing, but i assume the bike racks must just be getting moved? I wouldn't think the City would simply abandon bike racks, but I could be wrong. Maybe the DRB will suggest a better location for the statue. I think It could get lost mid block-ish with 100 East's black brick and the dark nature of the statue. Maybe it could truly be placed on the corner instead? Edited by GvilleSC

And removal of a newly planted street tree.  I would think it could be moved slightly to work with the existing streetscape.

The Peg Leg Bates statue is installed and under a sheet on East Washington. A plaque is installed on 100 East that talks about a theater(?) and I'm assuming Mr. Bates..? I only caught a glance I it from the car today.

From what I've read, there used to be a theater in that location.  It was one of the few places that featured black performers.

In March the city approved the appropriation of money to help fund a Chihuly sculpture for the Harriet Wyche Garden in Fall Park. The piece is entitled: Rose Crystal Tower. No renderings provided but anything by Chihuly will instantly make a name for itself.

Perhaps this is the base for the piece you are referring to.
