FYI, This was posted on our portal. Demographia has tried to compile a list of the world urban areas including population and population density. Not really any surprises here except that Tokyo is indicated to be roughly twice the size of any other urban area on the planet.

FYI, This was posted on our portal. Demographia has tried to compile a list of the world urban areas including population and population density. Not really any surprises here except that Tokyo is indicated to be roughly twice the size of any other urban area on the planet.

Tokyo definitely has the edge because of its dense suburbs. However, Tokyo does not have the densest downtown or city core in the world. Hong Kong, Manhattan, and many parts of Bombay, Calcutta (and perhaps Lagos)are more crowded than central Tokyo.
