A buddy of mine lives in the area and once he counted over 25 cranes hovering over the city!

I believe it. When I was there New Year's weekend, it seemed like every time I turned my head I saw a crane--and I wasn't even staying downtown.

I walked past that building every day and still don't know what its use was. I'm guessing that it is for scientific research, but I never really saw it being used.

I ate at Chintatown Express which the Washingtonian magazine praised as a bargain eatery. Yummy.

I was hoping to take a lot more pics this weekend but experienced some problems with my camera. Anyway, here are a couple of the Gallery/Chinatown in DC. This is the first time I have seen an urban Bed, Bath and Beyond. The amount of construction going on and number of cranes above the city is incredible.

By the way, the Regal Cinema complex in the building in the last picture is really quite nice. The screens could be bigger, but then nothing is quite like the Uptown Theater in Cleveland Park. Great pics.

I second what Tom Barnes is saying, the Regal Cinemas are a great addition to Downtown and gives residents of the Nations Capitol and visitors another reason to venture downtown.
