Looking good and one of the busier sections of downtown WS and Bailey Power Plant renovation and addition is almost open.

Phase II of the Innovation Quarter has been updated.  Development is expected to commence in 2022.  Featuring 10 buildings and a total of almost 3 million square feet to be built in the 28 acres along Research Pkwy mostly between E. Third Street and Salem Parkway.  The new phase will feature the same ground level mixed use activation found in the existing district where over 2.1 million square feet has already been developed. In Phase II, one million of the square footage will be dedicated to clinical/lab/office space along with an additional 30,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space and up to 450 additional apartment units.  

The new phase is centered around Fogle Commons which is a linear park capable of hosting larger scale activities such as  musical and art performances. All told, 15 acres is anticipated to be developed for new programmable green space and the extension of the existing Long Branch Trail by a half mile reaching over toward East Winston by connection with the E. Third Street bridge.

Within 20 downtown Winston-Salem has gained almost 10,000 residents.

walked around the Innovation Quarter today.  This place is great.  Med students running in scrubs, students,  professionals all mixing together.  Glad to see site development work beginning on the vacant tract.  Bailey Power Plant building is just great with new construction blending with an old power plant.    Even a rail trail and elevated high line type trail on the old railroad beds.  Plus all the apartments in the area it is real neighbohood too. 

Photo overload but you know what this area deserves it.  This is the first time in a while I have walked around extensively in this area.

In looking at the new part being graded now for the next large phase of the Innovation Quarter here is some more information on what will be built there.  Notice the high rise which might be a hotel multiple use tower.

they are grading the land now.  so I am sure some of phase of it will start and the existing Innovation Quarter buildings are basically all full.

Not in the Innovation Quarter, but Wake Forest University could be looking at enhancements near the football stadium in Winston-Salem.
