The Pats vs the Cats!!

Sorry citiboi, I have to root for our beloved and formerly inept New England Patriots! If they don't prevail after 15 straight wins it will be a great disappointment. I remember when just getting into the playoffs was a big accomplishment for this team. Every year they were going to move to St Louis or Hartford or somewhere. Now they have an electric new owner in Bob Kraft and family and a fantastic new stadium.

We should have a bet where the losing teams fans have a Panthers or Patriots avatar with "Super Bowl XXXVIII Champions" signature, for a week.

Anyone game?

Now I'm not pulling for Carolina but I'm just going by what has happen over the past couple of years. I think Carolina will win BUT we will never see them again this will be the best season Carolina will have for a LONG time.

May I ask why you say that?

Sorry NE fans, I think Carolina is going to win it and I will be cheering for them. What I do hope, is whichever way it goes we have a close superbowl.

Yeah, that is crazy that Mayor Pat had 15 police officers personally escort him through the stadium...and yet he still got doused in beer and called a bunch of names....

What was worse, was the Charter Buses that arrived at the stadium and the fans threw beer bottles at the bus...that is just uncalled for...especially since there were small kids there.

Bunch of rowdy fans and all that trash talking in the paper about the Panthers and the city of Charlotte. The funny thing, they got beat, just like they do every year. Maybe some of those Philly fans outta start throwing things at themselves.

Unlike other teams that have made it to the Super bowl recently, (Baltimore, Tampa Bay), The Panthers have a nucleus of younger players locked up under contract, and are in good financial shape under the salary cap.

Another thing that can't be measured is the importance of the Coaching staff and the Front Office. Marty Hurney and John Fox have taken a destitute team that was 1-15 and in 2 years have turned them into a Super Bowl contender by drafting soundly and signing key free agents.

The defensive nucleus of Julius Peppers, Kris Jenkins, Mike Rucker, Kindall Moorehead, Dan Morgan, Will Witherspoon, Ricky Manning, Jr., and Mike Minter will be together for a long time - all of those players are under 30 years of age, a defensive unit that has ranked in the top 10 two years in a row.

Offensively, the Panthers have a core group of players, first and foremost Jordan Gross, Jeff Mitchell and Jeno James who are young and playing at a championship Level. Bruce Nelson will be starting in place of Kevin Donnalley next season, although Todd Steussie may be let go due to his large salary.

Steve Smith is a restricted Free Agent, but will be resigned, and they will be spending money to upgrade the rest of the WR corps in the coming off-season. They have some good, young TE's in Wiggins and Seidman, and Brad Hoover, the starting FB is in his mid 20's as well.

Stephen Davis is 30, and although he isn't as fast as he was in college, still has proven he has plenty of tread on his tires. Deshaun Foster is more than willing to take the lead though, as his tremendous 1 yrd TD run in the NFC Championship Game proved that he's much more than just "the fast rb" on the Panthers.

Take this nucleus, add more players for depth via free agency and the draft, and you'll have a solid team for years to come.

The Panthers will be solid contenders for several more years at least based solely on the fact that they are in good financial shape in respect to the salary cap, and will be able to afford to keep and resign their key players. Other teams, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, can't afford to keep their good players, and didn't have the depth the Panthers do now to compensate for injuries that occur during the season.

I don't think it's amazing that the Patriot made it back, they have a good nucleus as well. Don't ever listen to the announcers on TV - they are idiots for the most part and only do enough research to cover their asses when they are on TV.
