Channel-bridge over the River Elbe

4 posts in this topic

This is a channel-bridge over the River Elbe and joins the former East and West Germany,

as part of the unification project. It is located in the city of Magdeburg, near Berlin.

The photo was taken on the day of inauguration.

To those who appreciate engineering projects.....

Thanks for the pic. It is a very interesting engineering feat. Although I have to admit I wonder why they had to do it like this. Would having a canal going through had caused problems? But anyway very interesting, thanks for sharing. :D

That is a trip. Reminds me of Colorado and other areas out West where municipal water lines criss-cross each other  Some background on why they had to do this would be great. :)

Probably for the engineering recognition. Sometimes things aren't done because it needs to but to be inventive and attract attention
