Viridian Rising

Recommended Posts

While on the East Bank this morning, I noticed how prominent the Viridian is from that vantage point. I've taken lots of pictures from the greenway, but this one just struck me of just what a visual impact this one tower is making. Nashville's contrasting historic, mid-century, post-modern, and contemporary stuctures seem powerful in this shot. Even the sleeping kudzu makes an impact.

...and, just playing around, thought I'd offer this one for RK. There's your City Center II and the new Tony Tower.

"The Tony Tower" I love it! Nice pics Dave. It still gets to me that NCC 2 never made it out of the ground. What could have been. Oh well I'll take The Tony Tower and be very thankful.

Ditto from me too. Thanks for digging out a picture of the City Center II. It would have been such a great building for Nashville, and I was so disappointed when they didn't build it. That with the Sig (Tony) Tower. Wow! Let's get NCC 2 resurrected. Tony's going to build his, IMO. The two together would be awesome.

As for the Viridian, it is really starting to look good. I love that picture you took, Dave!

I'll chip in, Ron. And thanks, Hank, for thinking I found an old picture of CC2, so I guess my hurried photoshop skills aren't too bad. I can build one, but financing might be a bit tougher. lol. This original pic is from last April.

CC2 would look awesome! Would it front Church Street at all? If so, we'll need a major department store tenant for the first few levesl - maybe a Bloomies or something. Then let CC2 have mixed use with offices, hotel (boutique like something from Kimpton) and some residences.

Great Pics!

No, it doesn't extend that far. CC1 fronts Union, and CC2 would be directly south of it, which would still make it a half-block away from Church.

I emailed Richard Fletcher of the 511 group to get a status on NCC2. I also invited him to a forum meet to discuss the future of office towers in the CDB. Maryland Farms and Cool Springs are almsot built out and it would seem Williamson County is at a saturation point. Although I would hate to see those areas become ghost towns, I think eventually some of their major tennants may move back to the CDB.

Service Merchandise went out of buisiness on 1999 or 2000, yet their old building stayed empty for almost 4 years! It has just recently been leased.

Too bad Nissan could not have located in the CBD and located in NCC2.

Email Richard Fletcher to let him know how much you would like to see NCC2.

RK I hope its cool to post his email.

I see nothing wrong with it as long as he has that email publically posted for the purpose of eliciting feedback from the general public, ie any of us. So its fine with me as long as thats the case. :)

I'm anxious to hear what he has to say. I've always had hope he would resurrect his project. It would be such a great addition to the Nashville skyline, and maybe now is a good time to reconsider starting it.

The NCC2 would have been a great addition to our skyline, lets hope we can get talk about it stirred back up. Hopefully its not dead.

I really like that pic PHofKS!!!

Ditto from me. That's one of the neatest downtown views I've ever seen of Nashville. The density from that shot is amazing!

Best I can tell, we only have TWO more floors to go before the Viridian tops out :yahoo: .....that would be about two weeks, three at the most.
