It's a very nice casino, and has constantly been ranked as one of the top casino's in the country since it was built a few years ago. And in a way, it's the center of Louisiana's gaming industry, especially economically.

I'm going to have to go there. Just kidding. :P I'd probably loose all my money.

^ Wow Brian you were right yesterday; I had not seen anything yet ! :o GREAT Gator shots ! I really enjoyed all of them. Your camera takes some clear pics. I think the La.Purchase pic is cool too. It's kind of crazy were I stay now was actually western Florida.

Nice pics of Harrah's...I am impressed it's that large. BTW I like the Plaza Tower even if it's not the most attractive building I've ever seen. I'm looking forward to seeing it's conversion.

You'll have to wait another 6 years to lose all your money at Harrah's, you have to be 21 to get in. I was able to get inside for the first time a few months ago, and it looks even better inside than it does outside, awesome casino.

Thanks yall. ;)

Awesome shot Nate! What a great view! And some impressive high-rise hotels and density. Canal Street is one of the best streets in America IMO. Main Street in Houston tried to re-create/copy Canal Street, but there is no comparison.

What building is that gaint "S" on the bottom left at street level ? It has red/pink neon looking trim on the side.

Looking down Canal Street from the 13th floor of One Canal Place: (I have connections :D)

Very cool! My shot of downtown Shreveport will be from the equivalent of 17 floors up, so not much different from this...with the main exception being, I'll be looking down on the tops of most buildings since MOST buildings here much shorter than those.

Great photo, man! By the way, was that shot through a window?

Nice pic Nate. By the way since it was mentioned about Nate's pic being used in another topic I wanted to mention to Brian that his info on the Boardwalk has been talked about over on the Little Rock forum as well. I kept forgetting to tell Brian.

Thanks guys! I was happy with that pic, even if there were some reflection problems through the window. :D

There is... and that's how I could tell. But it's a great photo for being through the glass. There is still a lot of brilliance in the colors.

By the way, is that orange construction fencing along Canal? Is that the Canal renovation already underway?

Yes, that is part of the Canal renovation project. The project has nearly been completed from the foot of Canal up to around the Marriot. If you look closely, you can see the beautiful new widened sidewalks complete with palm trees and bricks. And work continues in the neutral ground and on the sidewalks as the crews work there way up Canal.

Richy, that building is actually a group of old 1850's houses that someone decided to put a fake exterior cover on about 50 years ago. The "S" stands for "Sanderlin" I believe, but I don't know much else about that "building." If you look closely at the top of it, you'll see that it's actually multiple buildinds next to each other.

Yea those are some great looking photos as well, Brian, nice job!

I like the balcony too.

Aw c'mon now Richy, you can't make that mistake! That's actually not a balcony, it's a "gallery" because it is covered with a roof. A balcony is fully open and non-covered.

For example, here are some elaborate galleries in the French Quarter:

Leave it to someone from New Orleans to tell us that.

I'd have considered it a balcony... in general residential deisgn we typically call it a balcony even if it's covered. But in New Orleans it's a "gallery." Either way, some of the ones in New Orleans are gorgeous!! :D

I just found this tidbit about the Spring Street Museum in Shreveport, which resembles a New Orleans building:

"Built in 1865 as Tally's Bank, the Spring Street Historical Museum is housed in one of the oldest remaining buildings in downtown Shreveport. The building has undergone careful restoration and boasts the only remaining example of New Orleans-style cast-iron grill work in Northwest Louisiana."

And here are three of my personal photos of this building:

I'm SO going to have to go inside this place SOON!
