Anyway nice pic Nate, you got any history of the name and about the alley itself?

Oh of course, don't I always! ;)

Here's a good website that explains the history behind the name and the alley:

http://www.atneworleans.com/body/piratealley.htm

The name and the lore of the alley all goes back to the early days of New Orleans, when it had already become a major port and drew both pirates and slave trade.

Very good job in the New Orleans Photo thread. They make me want to go down there right now. Strangely, they also make me hungry. :P

Hopefully, the downtown Baton Rouge plan will workout and there will be people walkng around all the time like there is in New Orleans. But it seems to be working, so I guess we'll see how it plays out in the next few years.

Thats a TOWER ! :o Great shot Nate. Agree with yall it blends in with the sky.

Thanks Dan for those State Capitol construction pics.

I have a pic of BR's first skyscraper built in 1927(only 12-stories) I want to post. It may need to go on La.Photo of the Day for more exposure than BR Photo of the Day.
