New email I just received:

The full announcement has been delayed but a press release is being considered in the immediate future. Rick Sumerel our COO is meeting with the developer this afternoon to discuss this. Everything is on track and be sure we have your contact information and we will have the proper person contact you with what ever details they can give as soon as possible. Thanks for your continued interest. John Cothran

Email I received today from John Cothran about the Verdae Development that I also posted in the Magnolia Park Town Center construction thread, seeing how you guys wanted to know if a pedestrian bridge would be built over I-85 for this project:

Mr. Sharp a pedestrian bridge is not planned at this time. There is an abandoned rail line under I-85 going through Verdae and ICAR what we have been working on having activated in some fashion for transportation between the two and into downtown as well. There will be signage on I-85 to announce your arrival at Verdae. There will be a press conference announcing the details of the first TND lot development Thursday July 27. Thanks for your continued interest in Verdae. John Cothran

WYFF said that over 400 people have showed interest or inquired about this. The demand is there to make this first venture successful and more after that... 130 something families calling this home will most definitely increase the city's population  and do so fast!

Went to Verdae Marketplace today and noticed that the building closest to Verdae Blvd has been demolished. Anyone know what's up with that? :dontknow:

I can't remember if it's a Super Bi-Lo or an Office Depot that's going in there. Somebody posted here somewhere in this thread (or perhaps another) some time back. Wish I could remember, but I'm sure someone will clarify.

Did anyone read the article in Greenville Journal about a new 50,000 square-foot building at the corner of Verdae Boulevard and Woodruff Road? The entire building will be occupied by one company. The final plans should be ready by the end of the year.

No. I miss getting the Journal...

Can you ellaborate anymore or is that all that it said? Do you think this is the company that is interested because of the new school construction?

You are referring to the former Service Merchandise location, correct? That property is about to become home to a Super Bi-Lo, if what I have been told is true. :shades:

This is indeed Super Bi-Lo.

The entire space has been completely demolished. The debris should be completely hauled off this week. The new building construction of the new supermarket will begin in the first weeks of November. Super Bi-Lo will open in late June/early July.

I think I remember hearing about this a while back, I think it is to be a local bank headquarters.

I drove by the Verdae site today, but unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. It is definitely a site to behold. Also, you can still drive down Rocky Slope Road from Woodruff Rd. to half way between Verdae Blvd. and Woodruff Rd. to see tons of progress being made.

He is right. I haven't been by in two months and I was blown away by the progress. There's no more trees left on the site! Progress is definitely taking place. I can't wait to see infrastructure in place and structures going up!
