NCB's Trip Through Louisiana Part III

43 posts in this topic

These pictures were taken from Natchitoches,LA to the LA/AR border. And many of them were taken on the trip back from Arkansas across I-20 as well. :D Again, I apologize for the poor quality of some of the pictures.

Trip Up to Arkansas

Land around the Interstate in between Alexandria and Natchitoches.

The only shot relative to Natchitoches I was able to get.

Interstate views from around 20 miles south of Shreveport. Notice how the trees suddenly change types due to the elevation fluctuations.

It looks like you posted the Shreveport water tower twice. But I'm leaing towards getting the S2 now and I'm looking forward to the zoom. I need to go out and play with one at one of the photo shops around here. Is it my imagination or is it pretty flat south of Shreveport and then you get some rolling hills as you get close to the Shreveport area?

Around 75 miles south of Shreveport it is mostly flat, around 50 miles south it goes from flat to rolling hills to flat and so on, and around 25 miles south of Shreveport it is very hilly, and that lasts almost all the wa up to Fouke,AR.

NCB, make sure you fill up the gas tank before leaving Shreveport on I-49. Talk about desolate... no gas stations until almost Alexandria. I almost ran out of gas on I-49.

^I know exactly what you are talking about.

Other than Natchitoches, there are just a few places to buy gas between Alexandria and Shreveport.

You guys should try traveling out west. I think there you can better appreciate gas stations. :D

^Thanks TJ! :)

I thought the skyline shots came out well even though I was moving quickly.

More great pics. Still amazed at your skill of taking skyline pics while in motion. :D Are you driving and doing this? I have been assuming so.

Thanks. Yea that crane looks to be finishing the Hollywood Casino on the banks of the Red River.

Oh no I was riding as a passenger. I would never attempt most of these pictures while driving! :D

^ Awesome. LOL I at first thought you were taking these, or at least some, while driving. I was like man, I have no idea how he is doing that. I have seen folks do it though, and do a decent job at it. Still you have a darn good skill of taking pics in motion, esp. the ones in the one thread where you took them from a bridge with 3 foot spacing was it?

Well well well..if it isn't the 300th Dollar General between south Shreveport and north Shreveport.

IMG_0343.jpg

Extreme northwest Louisiana countryside. We are starting to get into the pecan tree orchards.

IMG_0347.jpg

Looking up Highway 71. The picture would have been better without the Toyota Tacoma. ;)

Showing of thee S2's zoom! :D Yes, this is a real plane!

Looking up highway 71 at a different elevation.
