The Hispanic Community in NWA

Recommended Posts

NWA could see even more Hispanics move into the area. Oklahoma seems to be taking a very hard stance. They are initiating some new laws with one of the goals to push illegal immigrants into their neighboring states. Of course there is talk of Arkansas taking a harder stance as well, perhaps looking at Oklahoma as an example.

Not too surprising but with the slowdown in the economy Hispanic growth has slowed down a bit as well. This seems to be a trend all over the US except for Louisiana. The growth rate of Hispanics in 2007 was about 6.7%. There weren't any numbers for separate sections of Arkansas. But estimates have figures over 150,000 now living in the state. NWA is still the leading area in the state and Hispanics seem to be more heavily located in the western part of the state in general.
