Those are some nice pics, thanks for sharing them. San Diego is one of those cities I really hadn't seen a lot of before. It's great to get such an interesting all around view. :D

Stunning beauty!

The whole town looks like a postcard.

However, I don't find those "philly rowhomes" very philly at all.

Yah, those townhouses are a little more "French Provincial" or something similar. Does San Diego have any grit? It all seems a little polished. Nice job though!

Thanks for comments, Gang!

However, I don't find those "philly rowhomes" very philly at all.

The reason why I referred to them as Philly-style is because while I was taking some pics, a woman came out and told me that it was a railroad magnate from Philadelphia who built this single block of rowhomes. Here's a pic from another angle -

I wouldn't call it true grit. There are no abandoned areas or any decaying parts in the city. A section of downtown has homeless people sleeping in the streets, but those areas are quickly gentrifying. A friend who was urban artist, moved here from Buffalo and was so amazed that there was no grafitti to be found throughout the city, and he lived in a loft right downtown. I'd describe San Diego as neat and tidy, which to some, isn't a good thing.

Great pictures of a great city. I briefly stopped in San Diego about 2 weeks ago on my way to Tijuana. Unfortunately I didnt have time to really get to know San Diego as I would have liked. The next time I'm in California, I hope to explore the city further.

I absolutely love the signage!!
I like them, too!! Some of those signs were first lit up in 1940, and span the "Main Street" areas of the older neighborhoods.

Ok, be honest, wasn't Tijuana a dump?

Wow i never knew San Diego was so beatiful.

Shhhhh.....don't tell anyone, it's suppose to be a secret ;)

There's a very good ( > 50% ) chance I'll be making a trip to San Diego this fall for a conference at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. Is it pretty nice ?

My father was in San Diego for 6 months in the Navy during WWII, so I've always wanted to see the city for myself.

^^The Sheraton San Diego is next to the airport, which if you didn't already know, is right next to downtown. Being a Sheraton, I think the hotel is still in pretty good shape. There's a 2 mile walking/biking path from the hotel that leads directly to downtown.

Here's a bad pic of the hotel that I found on Google, but it gives you an idea of the location -

Thanks ! I'm really looking forward to seeing some of the great Pacific, and San Diego specifically.

Birmingham's airport is close to its downtown, also.

There's also an outside chance I'll get to visit Honolulu within the next year :w00t:
