Forgive me for bringing up a topic about suburbia but I was wondering if there was any opinion or thoughts about what appears to be the now very close to happening construction of a new ramp on I-196 into Georgetown Township.

It might help out a little bit at first, but that area is a huge bottleneck and I think in the long term it will only cause more problems, but they will just be farther back on Baldwin and Cottonwood.

In your opinion, is there any legitimate solution to this problem or is just one of those things that will always be and that will just to try to be made the best of?

Well I am certainly no traffic engineer, but I think that as long as That area keeps growing like it is we'll continue to see problems. Part of the problem is the river really squeezes everything down to that interchange, so you have all of Jenison using the same sections of roadway.

A second ramp right at Baldwin near the railroad tracks will help at that Main Stret / Chicago drive intersection for sure, but I think that eventually it will back farther down Baldwin towards Meijer, and the Cottonwood traffic will get backed up as well. I don't know if there is any intelligent way to fix that mess now.
