Yes, and he also got 30 years in prison. This is the maximum allowed in SC law for someone who is under 18. (He could have gotten death). There SC Supreme Ct., just a couple of weeks ago, has decided to reconsider the sentence since there has been a charge made this punishment is cruel and unusual punishment since he was only 12 when he committed the crime.

BTW, one of the lead investigators for the case, was Black.
