How were your flights, ice? On time?

Both left about 10 minutes late, but still arrived 20 minutes early, as per usual. I love USAir out of RIC! With all the travelling I do, I get more and more appreciation for Richmond and RIC is definitely the best airport per Capita that I have experienced.

*******UPDATE********

So yesterday, she receives a phone call from Lisa, who is the assistant manager/top waitress stating she wanted to verify her address so she can be mailed her paycheck, and to discuss some discrepancies in the till box at the bar. A claim she certainly disputes. She was given the box to put in any cash for the bar, for the wedding. When the entire situation happened, she was so distraught she just left. So what happened to that is unknown.

So today, we both went there to have it settled. First, we went to the front door, no answer, so we went in the way she usually does for work, by the back door/kitchen. We go to the front and a server was there to go get Lisa. He comes down and escorts us outside and tells us to wait there. Basically kicking us out of the place.

After a few minutes, Lisa comes out. Ali starts by saying, i tried to call you yesterday but no answer. Lisa says, oh really? we didn't get a call. Ali states that she called, it rang and rang, nothing.

In a nutshell, Lisa states that she is not welcomed back because she walked out on her shift sunday. As you know, Ali walked out cause she was touched.

So, now the situation changes, she was touched, walked out, gets accused for taking money, and fired for walking out.. but in reality, she got fired cause she caused a scene because she was touched.

...Back on to this topic... all I really know to say is that... well, that's pretty messed up but not surprising. I guess the only thing that can happen now is a lawsuit, eh?

I hope you flew Jet Blue. :)

Answering my own question, I believe the ships from Triggs drydock were launched into the canal and not the river.

I think they had both for the canal and river.

So I'm assuming your talking about the MCV VCU campus expansion?

Yep, BP. Critical Care Hosp is the building going up at the end of Clay Street that will practically smother The White House of the Confederacy. There are lots of pictures here and there on this forum.

I think he was referring to the Riverfront Towers "hook up". I tell you, that picture from yesterday's paper with the Godpseed would make a great view if Rocketts were taller.

Hmmmm. I guess that's one of the pictures that was not on-line. I would have liked to have seen a pic of The Godspeed as photographed from top of Riverfront.

For those of you who have not enjoyed photographs of the trails in James River park by Phil Riggan and R. Kevin Morley of The Times Dispatch, you're missing a treasure.

No wonder XTERRA loves Richmond!

These and other pictures can be accessed at:

http://www.inRich.com.

A lot of them are under Discover Richmond and elsewhere. Just look around and you'll be amazed.

Speaking of The Times Dispatch, I have to say that today's edition is a pretty poor excuse for a Sunday paper, unless the on-line version has been deliberately shorted. Maybe the staff has been given a long holiday weekend.

One would hope there would be elaborate coverage of the largest fireworks display in Virginia's history. I found only two stories: one emphasing children's delight at the festivities with several quotes from nine-year-olds, and a review about how The Richmond Symphony had to put up with a lot of ambient noises while ably performing its light classics program.

Nary a picture in view.

The changes taking effect on-line (inRich.com) are not without merit, but it is irritating in some respects.

What drives me crazy is that the METRO and VIRGINIA section is loaded with national news on the website. You have to weed out what actually is a local story. Like for example, what does an AP story from London about bees flying into an airplane engine while en route to Portugal have ANYTHING to do with the metro area or the state?

And weeding thru the Entertainment section! Ugh! Unless you click on immediately to Arts & Entertainment the Home page of that section goes on and on with lists of people getting engaged or married before getting down to the important stuff. But on the Entertainment Home page there are usually one or two stories of special interest so I like to check it out. Society news should be somewhere else.

They also lumb Business news in Metro/Virginia, though it does have its own section, too.

I looked fruitlessly yesterday thru Sports to find a report of the Braves/Tides Friday game at Harbor Park in Norfolk but never did. Today, I inferred from coverage of last night's (Saturday's) game, that the RBraves had lost Friday night.

So, they lost six in a row, but finally rebounded with a win last night in Norfolk. :good:

I'm certainly glad to see the weekly ratings that Style Weekly gives Richmond be very positive in the past weeks.

On another note, I'm tired of being called 'BP'.... you guys can just call me 'Aaron' (my genuine first name) from now on.

OK Aaron. No more BP, but you didn't really expect us to spell out your long tag, did you?

Okay... help me understand 50th St.

Why do we have a 50th St?! It's surrounded by no other numbered streets, the next numbered street is 1st street so it's out of order, and it's in Henrico. How random is this street name?

One thing, though, it falls more in line with the numbered streets on the southside of the river, which ends with 49th St. Is that the link? Or is 50th St a joke?

I have made a list of my Short Pump safe places...

McDonald's

KFC/LJS

Best Buy (HOORAY FOR THE MECHANICSVILLE ONE... sadly they're starting to beat Circuit City on their home turf)

Circuit City

Quiznos

Ukrop's

On a sad note, my cousin who owned a barber shop in Shockoe Bottom has passed on Memorial Day. I don't know what's to become of her shop. I hope some of her immediate family and friends can keep it going.
