Well, I see the website underwent a software update, but dang, it loads super slow now.  Anyone else having that issue?  Also, what new features were added, if any?  I can't see where there are any better features now.

FYI, after seeing what went into this update this slowness is to be expected for a little while.  Hopefully it will resolve itself within the next day or so.

There may be an issue with edits.  My edit is not working properly and I see other Mods reporting the same issue.  At this time I do not know if this is an issue with Mode functionality or all user edits.

Mod* (thankfully the auto-merging still works :) )

Editing appears to be fixed.

Sorry guys,. but according to this totally legit advert on Yahoo, Richmond is dying!

Obviously whoever compiled this list hasn't looked at any actual numbers - given the city's VERY robust 14.8% population increase (based on 2021 estimates) since 2010 - making Richmond one of the faster/fastest growing cities in the country.  Very pretty click-bait girl, though.

So does anyone know when the new population numbers come out for the Richmond msa area? I haven’t seen many previous things saying we have hit 1.3 million people now. I really think we have based on these upcoming numbers for this year but for the previous year I’ve seen i thought around 1.29 million. The numbers have kind of confused me from previous years.

Ohhh Idk ... I think I would, regardless of how she talks about RVA . At my age, I don't get that many opportunities to sip from the cup of such youthful feminine beauty. Like Elvis used to say - it's been a LONNNNNNNNNNG time, baby!!

If anyone is able to provide any updates on the City Council Meeting tonight, please do so.  I want to know:

1) How Mayor Stoney's pitch of the Casino One project went

2) If rezoning for the silo site in Manchester was approved so it can move forward (please don't delay the rezoning!)

What a great day to get out and take some photos of developments around the city! :whistling:  Just saying.

How'z the weather there? It was nasty here yesterday - 94 ... but the dewpoint was only in the upper 40s - dry enough for the NWS to issue a fire-risk advisory for around these parts - something that almost never gets issued this far north (plus being in the western Great Lakes region)...

Couldn’t find a working population thread, so I’m putting this here…

Anyone else see this article about Richmond area counties (to include the city) are some of the fastest growing counties in the state?

https://www.wric.com/news/virginia-news/richmond-henrico-and-chesterfield-rank-in-top-10-of-fastest-growing-cities-and-counties-in-virginia/

My thoughts:  I think it’s crazy how the NOVA counties of Prince William, Fairfax, and Loudoun more than doubled the number of new residents against the next fastest growing counties in the state which are in the Richmond area (Chesterfield, Henrico, and Richmond City)! NOVA’s growth rate is just on a completely different level.   Richmond area counties are growing pretty fast, but I guess it’s all relative.  At least the Richmond area is outpacing the Hampton Roads area (although some of their counties are in the top 10).

Interesting data - and we've picked up the pace (in RVA city anyway) - if 2021 estimates are accurate - we've gained somewhere around 6,000-plus more residents since 2019 (I recall seeing some 2021 estimates showing the city at 232,000-plus through the first part of this year) ...  If we can maintain this kind of pace through the city's tri-centennial - then the planners' projections of RVA with a CITY population of 340,000 - OR MORE - is certainly quite reachable.

I stumbled across this post a few days ago on the RVA/Reddit forum - and it's VERY heartening to hear that word has been/is getting out there around the country of what a great place Richmond is - and how it is being viewed favorably as a good place to live, work, etc. THIS is the kind of messaging that certainly inspires hope that RVA's momentum isn't about to diminish anytime soon - if anything, it will only continue to increase.

Everything from organized promotion and marketing of RVA as a great place to do business to word-of-mouth 'selling' of RVA as a great place to live, a great place to visit, a great place to come and spend time, plant roots, etc., - will be key to keeping the momentum full pedal-to-the-metal. We all can play our part - both actively in promoting the city as a great place to live and work - and by staying involved and pushing local government, business organizations, etc., to do their part in aggressively promoting Richmond as THE new up-and-coming city that everyone must come to - whether to visit or to relocate. Much can be done along these lines that will increase the likelihood of businesses (and people) coming here.

We want the West Coast markets opened to RVA. Look at where this post is coming from. This is EXACTLY the kind of grass roots 'marketing' that can go a LONG way to bringing people and business to RVA. And, eandslee, that'll get us good, direct air service to and from those markets in the west. The momentum can snowball and -- as great as it is now -- become even greater!!

From RVA/Reddit:  (there's more to this post, but I clipped the most pertinent part for this forum)

Arizona/Western Transplants?

renderTimingPixel.pngHey all!

I live in Phoenix and my wife and I recently caught wind of how cool Richmond is. We’ve been looking to escape the desert and really like the idea of heading east. Richmond seems pretty sweet because it’s right between awesome hiking and beaches. It also seems like Richmond has a great personality and is a solid spot to buy a house and plant some roots.

Thanks Blake, I didn't know this was happening, neat concept and look forward to seeing it. If I understand this correctly, on July 1st it will change to the other image shown, though not 100% sure and what they mean by the augmented reality.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Two large portraits featuring youth leaders will be unveiled at Richmond’s City Hall during a rally on July 1. It will be the largest art installation on a municipal building in the country that uses augmented reality.
