The Spirit of Solidarity Monument

Recommended Posts

Looks like they're building a new monument in Ah-Nab-Awen park. I don't remember seeing anything about it, but it looks like it's supposed to be done within the next few months.

I posted something a couple of months ago. I think GRCentro is helping out with this.

It looks like it will turn out to be pretty cool.

I think it's pretty interesting that there is going to be a monument to a worker strike in a town that seems so anti-union.

If this is about the Furniture strike way back in the teens then this will remind people that the Westside, I think, still distrusts the city government and local leaders. By the way, I think we could use a lot of this type of creative work downtown, I say hats off to this one. Wow, just wow.

Looks nice! Is that going to be a fountain of some kind around it? Looks that way!

Sorry to disappoint, but I only posted the newspaper article. You must be thinking Eastown. :whistling:

Anyway, it looks like you'll get your fountain, Andy.

GR approves monument to 1911 furniture strike

"The nine-foot tall monument will feature a waterfall and be set partly below ground."
