New Performing Arts Center Rumors

Don't get excited yet. ;)

The Broadway Theatre Guild, which was taken over by Gainey a few years ago, has now been 100% forgiven of over $2.3 Million in debt. 5/3 Bank was one of the biggest creditors that has decided to forgive the entire debt owed to them by BTG. The only reason I posted it here is that Harvey Gainey is a big proponent of a new PAC, specifically because of scheduling with Devos Hall and the BTG.

What an incredible gift they were given.

And to think, I just bought season tickets to help them stay around. Have to admit, the plea for help did get me more willing to fork over the season ticket money...I'm very glad that things are going so well now! Thanks HG - now maybe he can focus on the new PAC! It would be a crying shame to not have Broadway shows in GR.

Hey, I just thought of this. According to the article, many of the debts were forgiven in exchange for in-kind reciprocal gifts (free season tickets, etc.). Maybe this is a pre-cursor to the "Gainey/Fifth-Third Performing Arts Center", right on the 5/3 lot next door (?)

Sounds like a winner to me. Let's build it!

Well I've got good news and bad news (says Chris Knape on his blog):

) Bad news: A new Performing Arts Center will not be pursued any time soon

) Good news: Grand Action is busy working on other (undisclosed) projects, and possibly helping with the new Millennium Park amphitheater project
