Myriad Resort

Maybe it's a reference to the generation of money being "prolific" (i.e. producing "results" or "fruit"/money in abundance). Certainly an awkward construction.

Well, I guess "prolific" in their press release sounds better than saying "we'll make a pile of money"!

My bet is the folks in Mississippi, maybe even Tennessee, would think you're asking an awful lot of them to expect them to have a regional perspective and cooperate with the riffraff from the other side of the line. Have you read the comments from the politicians in Mississippi regarding Memphis in the past month? Not very neighborly.

But, I agree, both sides should tackle all major projects with a REGIONAL perspective.

Well it looks like Memphis has struck back!!! The MPD is implementing Operation Blue Crush which will sweep crooks out of the city and according to the police director, "If they (criminals) want to run to Southaven, so be it" :P Kinda sad that our regional competition has gotten to this point.

My hope is that the areas of Mississippi in the Memphis metro area will begin to develop on an urban model. Maybe even a New Urban town could be developed somewhere. My guess is that Riverbend Crossing, however grand, won't be on an urban model. As voiced above, perhaps Tunica may develop in this direction.

Myriad Resort Receives Approval for One Casino

Thre casinos are proposed for the resort, but each one will have to receive separate permits. It also appears as though the giant ferris wheel has somehow migrated from Riverbend Crossing to the Myriad. What is it with these ferris wheels?

I believe the Myriads Mississippi Eye was announced before Riverbends Voyager Wheel. The Mississippi Eye will be the largest in the world and Riverbends will be the largest structure in Mississippi (other than the Myriad of course). What I'm guessing is that the Myriad will attract tourists from around the world while Riverbend attracts mostly locals. People might want to have an up close aerial view on that huge domed golf course so the Mississippi eye will be popular with the real tourists.

The developer of Riverbend said he wants it to be like a small town, where a person can work, play, and live with only a few minutes needed for the commute. The "thrill park" in Riverbend is only expected to have only 3 million visitors annually so I guess it'll only be a local attraction like Libertyland.

The groundbreaking for this project has been delayed back to around September 14th.

Here's a link to a radio interview with Scott Hawrelechko concerning this project...

This project keeps chugging along even though its been delayed a couple of months. The Myriad just secured a $20 million backing from the company Dutchess Advisors LLC.

I wonder how long the "quiet period" will be? I can't wait to see more details on this thing. I'm sure it will take forever to build, but if done correctly, it could bring much tourism to Tunica, North Mississippi and Memphis.

Myriad Plans Move Forward

Myriad Resorts is indeed moving forward with their ambitious plans for a main resort with five satellite casinos. I hope we will soon see more details about the exact nature of the resorts. The build-out on this will be gradual, but I hope they can get the main resort under construction soon.

More Delays? This IS Ridiculous....

It appears as though the Myriad project will be delayed yet again. I am sympathetic to the obvious fact that this is an enormously complicated project. On the other hand, earth needs to turn before people abandon all hope. I wish the best for this project, but if it's not going forward, let something else take its place.

Myriad Boots Execs, Moves Forward With Smaller Resort

While the overall plan for the Myriad is said to be over $2 billion, the executive team has been re-shuffled and plans are moving forward to begin with a smaller 750 room hotel, golf course, water park and casino. This may be more realistic in light of the current market and lending climate. The hotel is advertised as being in the four star range, so I'm hopeful that it will be significant. Supposedly, a well respected hotel operator has been chosen. As the money still does not appear to be in place, I'll take all of this with a grain of salt until the earth turns. Something must happen here or the project will be a noted failure.
