Parkway visits down again

Recent years have not fared well for the parkway. The fluctuation of gas prices,longer summer-like seasons and winter storms may have caused enthusiasts to avoid making a visit to check out the beauty and views along the route. Not bringing in the visitors, I can see communities struggling in the restaurant and hotel businesses where income may be decreasing.

The endangered views in the Roanoke Valley could be a factor. You can now see a car dealership and a Wal-Mart and Lowe's clearly from the parkway there.

Yeah we haven't been to the parkway in a few years... I think we're overdue for a trip this year.

I still find the Parkway to be one of the most beautiful drives you can take.

Why haven't any of these reports of lower visitorship talked about the fact that the road had been washed out? I mean if there is anything that is going to keep me away from a place, a ROAD CLOSED sign is one pretty sure fire way. Have they even premanently repaired the slides and sink holes from Frances and Ivan?
