Numerous Zoning change requests posted on Peter's Creek Parkway from Clemmonsville Road south towards Davidson Co. One is dealing with WalMart, based on location the other would be the new Lowe's Hardware, some type of business near Parkside West development, and the area near the new CVS. Not a lot listed as to what the requests are on the city's planning board site, more should be posted closer to April 13th. Before long, Peter's Creek will be solidly developed from Downtown to Davidson Co.

Also, major progress at the WalMart site. Almost all trees have been cleared and major grading has commenced.

Oh, can't forget this... there is a sign from the owner's of Mayflower thanking the community for their years of support also saying to watch this spot as rebuilding is planned and soon!

this week's bizjournal mentions the new Lowes along with some other retail/office space for the development. article

will the new wal-mart development be a shopping center or just the store?

The WalMart Development is just a store with a lease lot and an outparcel. The store is approx. 204,000 SF. It is also heavily regulated by the new "big box" zoning referred to in the article about the Lowe's Hardware coming across the street. The outparcel building must be 2 functional stories, compliment style and color of the WalMart building and have little or no parking between the building and the street. At least they have chosen to skip the classic WalMart Gray and Blue.

The area where these store are being built is now defined as a "MAC-Metro Activity Center" so I would expect quite a bit of development there in the near future.

Here's a link to the City Planning boards site with the approval for WalMarts building on Peter's Creek.

Thanks for the link, SuburbanGeorge. My grandparents used to live here. Their old house is shown in this image taken from the pdf, circled in blue. Let's just say they were glad to sell the house before this thing came along. <_<

I wouldn't be thrilled about a WalMart in My Backyard. Regardless of how tall of a hill, how much they landscape, and how tall of a wall is built to block it from my site. Of course, they say property values should increase!?!

The Lowe's Hardware when thru rezoning from County RS-9 to City RS-9. It now has to be rezoned MRB to allow the Lowes to be built. It will come up this month at the City-County Zoning meeting. I don't anticipate there will be any issues. Construction will probably start a couple of months afterwards.

Some small developments on Peter's Creek Northside:

P2160198.jpg

the former California Buffet Restaurant (old Red Lobster) now DriveTime used cars..

P2160197.jpg

The new Subway on the site of the former Taco Bell.

Also, nothing has happened on the Mayflower site. There had been heavy equipment there but it has now been removed.

^did you ever find out what that is?

as predicted, now that the ballpark is underway, attention is now being directed towards the north side. vacant, run-down, deteriorating properties dominate this stretch. some feel that PCP is prime real estate for revitalization. no plans are in place, but the city does have the area labeled as a RUCA, which will one day, receive funds for improvements. right now, only a new billiards hall is planned, but some envison going mixed-use once the ballpark opens in '09.
