orulz 458 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Asheville has a very extensive Greenway Master Plan, although not much of it has been developed yet. The plan is to eventually have miles of greenway trail along both the French Broad and the Swannanoa rivers, in addition to trails criss-crossing throughout the town. Next up for construction is the Reed Creek Greenway along Broadway from downtown to the river. Another extensively planned greenway is the Clingman Forest Greenway, which will be treated almost like an extension of Aston Park. There will also be several miles of trail along the Swannanoa River through the 155 acre Azalea Park. RiverLink's Wilma Dykeman Riverway covers much of the length of the Swannanoa and French Broad rivers through town. There's a large, complete report (66 megs!) available on their website. They're a non-profit, so let's not use up their monthly bandwidth allocation in a day, so only download it if you're really interested!
