Carolina Raptor Center

We are indeed very fortunate to have a place such as the Carolina Raptor Center here in Mecklenburg county. The center takes care of injured raptors that live in the county and were it can will release them back into the wild once healed. They are having their Winter Festival this weekend and it would be a great time to visit the center especially if you have kids that would enjoy seeing close up, the birds of prey that are native to the area.

The center is located in Latta Plantation Park (also great to visit) and the festival will be from noon-4pm on Saturday.

I keep wanting to go there. It is very cool in concept.

I went there last spring and was impressed. I think what they do there is wonderful. It was also cool to see some bald eagles fairly close. It's hard to catch sight of one in the wild.
