Food Lion introduces new shopping experience in the Upstate

Anderson Independent-Mail (SC)

First, Food Lion is moving into the Anderson area at light speed. Second, its location and type of store are worth it. Bloom (http://www.shopbloom.com) is a Food Lion store that is using ideas from an extensive customer research project over a couple of years and technological innovations for product information, meal ideas and checkout.

It should be very interesting to see what upper tier supermarkets can fare in Anderson. Publix seems to have fared well with its two locations. I think The Fresh Market can be successful here, possibly in the Greenville Street area in the vacant Winn Dixie.

Locating up at the Concoard/Hopewell Roads intersection is a good move. I think quite some number of residential developments have gone up down Hopewell Road. Concord Road still remains rural until you get past Brown Road, that is when it goes suburban. Hopefully there are other forms of retail (excluding a possible Wal-Mart supercenter) coming as more residential developments go up within the next few years.
