Basically, the two "secondary" broadcast networks, The WB and UPN will cease operations of their current networks and then merge to form a new network called the CW. ('C'BS 'W'arner Brothers).... CBS will own 50%, Tribune and Time Waner (which joinly own The WB) will own the other 50%.

What are your thoughts on this?

It sounds like a good idea to decrease the competiton on the market. I wonder how it will fly?

Nobody was watching. UPN hitched its horse to Star Trek, and when they finally burned out that franchise, it burned out too.

I watch them every once in awhile. I have a feeling that this new network won't be much of a success, the two networks have some quite different programming.

I watched them occasionaly, but most of the programming wasn't that great, IMO.

"the CW" is a pretty weak name. however, they have been eating at each other's audience for so long, they can finally now take a stab at being a 'real' fifth network.
