Is the HomeGold site on Pelham the one that was recently cleared of the big abandoned building? It's on the same side of the road as the Bi-Lo and Ruby Tuesday, yes?

When are we getting a Starbucks downtown or in the West End? It is ridiculous that we don't have one in that area yet (not to take anything away from the local places...I especially like Coffee Underground).

It'd be kinda nice to be able to get Starbucks or PCJ at River Place or even at the new West End Ballpark. I could really see it at the ballpark. They could have a retail shop at the Field House at West End and then also sell it inside the ballpark during games. Sky's the limit!

There's a large Starbucks sign on a flat bed sitting out by Poinsett Highway at Cherrydale. The sign's coming off of the front of the old PLEJ'S store. Coincidence? I think not.

Also, as for the west end, I heard about one almost a year ago, I had been hearing it would be in Riverplace, but I am pretty sure that is not the case now.

That one sounds great! With more residents deciding to live in downtown, there is, or will be, the need for places like this so we don't have to drive somewhere outside the CBD.

Someone told me that BMW was considering moving a division from New Jersey to Greenville. He said it was there legal division. Has anyone else heard this?

I have not, but this would most likely add a few jobs to the area. That is the kind of jobs we need more of.

The Dollar Tree is moving into PLEJ'S old location, so that explains the sign coming down there. I have to say after looking again at Master's Mark today that this location is almost tailor-made for a Starbucks. It shouldn't take them long at all to move in there once they get started.

A real estate friend said that Crosland is wanting to do a Greenridge-type development in Simpsonville. I've read they were wanting to do another center in the area but that was the first time I've heard Simpsonville mentioned. That would be great if it was to really happen.

Would any one of them be on the northeast corner? I know Ingle's has a vacant property there since they relocated their Simpsonville store nearly 17 years ago.

With the new interchange and the widening of I-385, I would be inclined to say this is a probable location for such a retail development. There are numerous new residential projects being put up all around there, so it would be a nice addition.

I know of a recent rumor about two call centers from Charlotte interested in moving to downtown Greenville. This was a few months ago, but it may still be in the works. If both happen, it will breathe new life into the office market, which has seen many companies simply relocate locally, rather than build anew here.

If only I could talk OGRE (My company's Global Real Estate and Facilities Management Organization) into opening an office, call center, or support center here. Alas, I am but one voice among 45,000.
