The Rumor Mill

Rumors have been circulating for a while now that one of the Hughes' has bought the Crossroads Apartment complex at Cleveland and Faris. Those same rumors suggested that upscale apartments would be developed.

This past week I was told that paying tenants have been given a date by which they have to be out of their units. I assume government-aided tenants will be the next to be relocated.

This will be an incredible location for some new apartments. There's not much in the way of new rentals in the Augusta Rd area, and this is a fantastic location with the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I hope whatever density might be developed will match that of the current complex or be higher.

A down side to this is that a lot of bus riders will be taken off that route. Hopefully the residents being relocated will still have access to public transportation.

The Crossroads is listed in the Property Transfers in the Journal. $10.1 mm for the 258 units. The buyer is listed as Cityedge Greenville LLC. 219 E. Washington St. is the address of the buyer.

Don't know the exact site for the apartments yet at that intersection. Waiting on more info.

That confirms Davis Property Group is the developer. Their address is the same as the buyer. This must be the project they have in the works near downtown that was mentioned by the Greenville News.

Any word on this being mixed use? Given the expense, I would assume the density will increase significantly.

I assume you're referring to the Crossroads Apartments? If so, the apartment buildings will remain, but be heavily renovated. I'm not sure how that will affect the density of units, but I imagine it will remain close to the same.

Ok, it's been REAL quiet lately. The domination of politics in the news, I'm sure is partially the reason, but regardless, it has been real quiet the last few weeks in terms of announcements and such.

So... I thought it might be a god time to check if anyone is hearing any new rumors or any updates on already announced projects.

Any word on any of the apartment projects, like Rhett &Wardlaw or Tom Croft's project? Any ONE scuttlebutt? There wasw some word about the Visitor's Center having news in the Fall.

Anything at all?

Where do you think unincorporated places would claim?

Furman University is changing its address to TR.

That's strange.  I don't think that makes much sense, and it won't help much when people ask where Furman University is located.  People had a lot better chance of knowing with Greenville, SC than Travelers Rest, SC.  In the grand scheme of things I suppose it doesn't matter much.
