Fuji closing in Greenwood?

I heard this a little while ago from a friend but havent seen anything about it on the news yet. Anyone heard anything? Is this true? I think it would totally devastate Greenwood and the surrounding areas if it is.

I saw something about this. They are phasing out 200 jobs, but I think the place employes in the neighborhood of 1000. With the booming digital photography industry old fashioned film is loosing ground. The Fujii people said that the jobs phasing out here are old style film related and that the facility will be focusing on digital from here on out with a good piece of R&D.

200 appears to be the number of positions being eliminated from the global restructuring. While job losses are unfortunate, it is vital to keep up with the new technology while maximizing profits and minimizing expenses.

Is Greenwood currently better off landing new businesses now than 15 years ago?

Well Im glad it wasnt the whole plant. That place is really huge and while 2-300 jobs is a major hit it is nothing like what would happen if they were to shut the whole plant down.

I hope Fuji replaces that many positions with new digital research jobs. That would actually benefit Greenwood better in the future.
