Pete's Deli to move out of Crossroads Mall

They have an address book they're asking their customers to fill in. They have dozens of names so far.

They will be busy, but a good Roanoke reaturant can live forever. Consider Texas Tavern, The Roanoker, Paul's Restaurant, The Little Chef...

Their lease was up. There's not much they could do other than move out.

So all those restraunts has a similar situation i guess.

Texas Tavern and Paul's have never moved to my knowledge. The Little Chef has gone out of business at least twice and been revived. The Roanoker has moved at least once, and had locations downtown and at Roanoke-Salem Plaza that closed down.

The situations aren't the exact same, but all of the above have been through their share of trying times and still survived. Pete's will survive.

Well, Crossroads has been in a downward spiral probably as long or longer than you've been alive.

Yeah, Im guessing its been going down since Valley View opened.

A litte bit before then too. Tanglewood was putting a hurting on them too back in the day.

Tanglewood is actually showing some growth.

It still feels very dead inside, sad to say, almost as dead as Crossroads.

Yeah, but Tanglewood has the possiblity to bring itself back to life.

Instead of Advance, I'd like to see some big box retail at Crossroads; maybe some more restaurants too. A Chilli's would be great right there.

Why in God's name would you want a Chili's? Can't get enough franchise food in Roanoke? Hardly..

How about someplace locally owned and different? Perhaps if people stopped looking for franchise places and started looking local, there would be no complaints of "no place to go, nothing to do."

Im guessing your talking to RoanokeFound, but really your both right, Really I can see a big-name francise in that area, but in some parts I could see a local restraunt.

I personally go to Awful's alot, and Humble Pie.

Sorry Steven, Im just getting sick of these nonsense wishlists for things that would add nothing but more minimum wage (waitstaff minimum is lower than anything, and people do not tip well here) jobs and more "heat and eat" food, which is really all those franchise places are.

The only franchise Im guilty of hitting regularly is IHOP. Everything else is local. It's just so hard to argue with a good pancake

Understood. I eat at abuot 50% chains and 50% local and regional reastaurants. And a lot of the chains out there suck and should be avoided at all costs. Can't argue with IHOP though either; they are the perfect late night snack sometimes.

Stil, Chilli's is decent if not spectaular. I'd love it if they replaced O'Charleys; which is abysmal

Yeah, but the Valley View IHOP is pretty scary after 11 pm. They literly have atleast 8 police officers there.
