Also having gone to Calvin and being at Calvin vs. Hope basketball games, I know the rivalry is huge. Alumni in cities across the country have parties at restaurants, sports bars, homes, etc for every game.

And if you don't think the rivalry has some national influence, check out this ESPN poll from last spring. Out of over 45,000 votes, Hope vs. Calvin was selected as the fiercest rivalry 75.4% of the time. Duke vs. North Carolina was second with 8.9%.
