I didn't know where else to put this, and didn't think it justified its own thread (yet), but:

Today, President Obama announced a high-speed rail initiative, and I found a document online outlining the potential route corridors, which listed Little Rock in the South-Central corridor (Tulsa, OKC, DFW, Austin, San Antonio, Little Rock).

All a very big "what if" but the fact that Little Rock bears enough weight to play into a route (among the 55 cities listed) is interesting.

The Secretary of Transportation said today that they would spend $8 billion from recovery funds and $1.5 billion a year for the next five years. The results would be trains in the 150 to 200 mph range. The NE corridor would not travel above the 150 range. Sounds like a lot of talk but not enough money to develop high speed rail in the US. Could be they are setting it up to fail?
