Yeah, didn't the Lancerlot's roof collapse after a snowstorm. And wasn't it in Vinton? I think Roanoke should get a baseball team to compete with the Salem Avalanche. I'm not joking, I think it would be a great rivalry that would boost attendance. Now we just need the name; some other natural disaster would be good, Roanoke Tsunami? The problem is we'd need a baseball stadium in the Roanoke city limits to have home games. Maybe we could use one of the new high school stadiums, or will those be strictly for football?

Avalanche News: Tim Purpura, General Manager of the 2005 National League Champion Houston Astros, will deliver the Keynote Address at the One-Stop Cellular / nTelos All-Star Luncheon. The All-Star Luncheon, part of the festivities involved with the 2006 HCA Virginia Carolina League vs. California League All-Star Game, will take place at noon on Tuesday, June 27th at the Wyndham Hotel in Roanoke.

The 2006 HCA Virginia Carolina League vs. California League All-Star Game is less than two weeks away, and final preparations are underway to make this All-Star Game memorable for players and fans alike:

WELCOME RECEPTION - Buffalo Wild Wings: 4335 Starkey Rd., Roanoke

All-Star players, coaches, executives, fans and sponsors are invited to kick-off the All-Star event with a fun night at Buffalo Wild Wings. There will be a buffet with food and cold beverages, as well as pool tables and dart lanes, music and games on the big screens. Cost: $25.00 per person
