2005 24,825 home sales vs 2004 23,234 home sales a 6.8 % gain

2005 $155,386 average price vs 2004 $150,012 average price increase 3.6 percent

38103 Zip code South Main Arts District and Mud Island

2005 540 home sales vs 2004 423 home sales a 28 % gain

The CCC projects about a 16 percent to 17 percent growth rate in that area with an additional 3,000 to 4,000 more residents in the south portion of Downtown Memphis in the next three to four years

38105 Zip code Uptown

2005 123 home sales vs 2004 47 home sales a 161.7 % gain

2005 $77,624 vs 2004 $36,124 average price increase 115 pecent

2006, Uptown could expand by 240 single-family homes and a 69-unit senior citizens' facility

There was another article in the Memphis Daily News that also reported that Memphis is still growing strong despite growth of the suburbs:
