I thought the same thing. It took me a good hard look to realize this was a modern photo.

A few months ago, I got the same view on a flight out of Providence, but maybe 20 minutes after sunset. It was still light enough to make out the skyline, but all the lights had come on. It was incredible to see Manhattan's street grid as a series of alternating red and white lines of light.
