DSchoon, I guess you'd be the person to ask about the map. In our first crack at the 19 acre city front property we forgot to add the land south of the railroad tracks, but later we added it. Did you guys exclude it intentionally?

The original version did include it, but there were conflicting accounts on that point. With everything on the map, we erred on the side of caution.

A casino would be almost impossible to do, the current casinos are shelling out milluion to lobbyist and campaign funds to stop new casinos, and the satate has never been too keen on more casinos anyway. As for 10,000 jobs, it could be as simple as planned office space, although for 10,000 people that would mean 1.5 million sq ft at least. So I'd bet this will be a mixed use development, probably some large office building(s) condo and apartment towers, retail (maybe an urban mall) and maybe an indoor amusement or water park. However I would caution that whatever this developer is planning I seriously doubt they would do it alone. They would probably just make a master plan and let other developers take on pieces of it over time. Anything as large as this supposedly will be would likely take quite awhile, maybe 10 years before it's complete.

I don't know. The more the press sticks their nose in this, the less likely it will happen. Believe me.

If that is really the case I wish the business journal would not have reported on it. Why couldnt they have signed the confidentiality agreement in exchange for 'exclusive access' or something like that when the timing is right?

I don't know Gary. I'm even considering closing this topic to any more posts just because of the sensitivity of it. What do you guys think?

Hey I just mentioned that! Im a good spin doctor, what would you like for me to do?

But folks, remember when I posted that thread discussing the likelyhood of our discussion cancelling a deal.... Oh, I see you just don't want to tempt it... I gotchya ;)

Sorry Rizzo, we must have posted right at the same time. I would leave it visible for people to see, but would lock it. It's not like we can pretend it wasn't reported.

Topic is locked. If you guys want to re-open it by popular vote, just PM me or let me know in the Watering Hole.

I hope it's NOT an IKEA or Bass Pro Shops. They thrive on big surface lots.

I'll take a wild guess and say WZZM13 will have the story on at 6:00 tonight :whistling: (I saw their truck in that area about an hour ago).

Did anyone see the 600 pm wzzm news regarding this issue? I am still here in the office although i am ready to bug out of here. Maybe the 1100 news will have something?

Oh, I don't know. I kinda think we should lock it too, and maybe when news comes out we can talk about it then. But at the same time, I don't think our occasionally absurd speculation really hurts anything...does it? Are there any developers out there who want to weigh in here?

My only issue is that if certain property owners are tipped off that a deal is coming, they'll double their asking price of their property. But I would imagine pretty much everyone in that neighborhood has known about this for awhile now, and has already signed an option or opted out.

The article makes it sound like the property owners have already been contacted months in advance already.
