What traditionally motivates secrecy? Obviously the first goal of secrecy is to keep others from knowing. Some kind of advantage or standing must be assumed to be maintained by not sharing information. If an entity has a rival and a revolutionary idea, that is something that generally an entity will want to keep a secret because they do not want the concept, idea or methods to be picked up by others before the originating entity captures the market and profit. In this case, a will wait until the very last minute before they release details so that they can maintain advantage over competitors.

Another motive for secrecy is reputation or perception. I am sure that most of us have run into folks who have this
