The textile entity WestPoint Home, formerly known as WestPoint Stevens, recently announced the closing of its Clemson complex. The process will occur over the next 60 days. This was once Oconee County's largest employer. A massive layoff of nearly 1300 was announced in January 2005,a precursor that the facility's days were numbered.

This is another sign of some textile entities failing in what was once the textile capital of the world.

I doubt that the immediate area has much recovered from the massive layoff last year.
