Mardi Gras in Shreveport/Bossier

Recommended Posts

I've found that most people are surprised to find out that Shreveport/Bossier even celebrates Mardi Gras, let alone has a large turnout. In honor of Mardi Gras Upstate (what they call our Mardi Gras celebration,) I figured I would post some photo galleries of the festivities from the Shreveport Times' website. In order to keep out of a copyright issue, I will provide links to the galleries for you below. Please enjoy!

1. Krewe of Aesclepius - final parade of the season, held on Fat Tuesday:

2. Krewe of Gemini - typically the larger parade in our area, with the most elaborate floats and throws:

3. Krewe of Centaur - the second of the larger parades in our area:

4. Krewe of Highland - a small neighborhood parade celebrating the historic Highland area:

5. Krewe of Barkus and Meoux - a small Mardi Gras "parade" for pets (what-ever!!):

6. And finally, the reason for the low turnout this year... the ice storm:
