I'm really looking forward to seeing this converted. Wish we had some artists renderings.

They're starting to go to town on this project, which is great to see. The coolest thing that caught my eye was this brick arch that you could see inside the building. There must not be any electricity inside? I can see guys working in there, and they have broken open a bunch of the boarded windows to give themselves light.

Havent been on this in a long while - we are poking at the building right now getting it ready for the full steam ahead renovation (when the prints are done - hopefully this week yet) We just closed on our financing last week with 5/3rd and are using a New market tax credit which took about 2 years to secure. We have a commercial (a food broker) tenant for the ground floor and are close to closing on another ground floor tenant - the balance of the building will be apartments. Project barely works and the tax credits put it over the threshold so we had to wait and work on that end of things...love those old buildings but they are tough to make work...

my wife was watching just across the street at GVSU.

She says there are tons of people with cell phone cameras getting the shots.

I hope this isnt the same building.

I am pretty sure it's the Bicycle Factory...and maybe more.

From the 11th floor I can still see a pretty hot core...I am sure the firefighters will be on scene until tomorrow morning.

Man! That sucks sooooo bad. THis was going to be a cool building when it got done. Hopefully it can be saved. I knid of doubt it though, that looks like a huge fire.

Just got off the phone with some family who said it's pretty bad, understatement now that I see the picture that is posted.

The building is gone.

From here I can see the brick skeleton with a burning fire inside...kind of like Dresden in 1945.

Im on the skycam, it looks like the roof fell into the building.

Confirmed, I heard them call it "the bicycle Factory" twice.

I was hoping it was the ugly cell phone tower building.

There are huge ashes falling all over the southeast side. The streets in Heritage Hill are filled with ash.

I was down on the SW side watching, its scary to hear the surrounding building tenants talk about the chemicals inside their buildings.

I was ready to post a disclaimer: while I'm no fan of the big @$ ugly cell tower building, I'm not an arsonist.
