Landmark Tower, Fort Worth

The Landmark Tower, an early 1950s office building built as the Continental National Bank, was reduced to a pile of rubble early Saturday morning. Current plans call for a parking lot on the site. While I shed no tears for the building, I wonder about the need for a surface parking lot. I hope they will fill this hole in the skyline soon.

XTO Energy bought the Landmark Tower and planned to build a 50-story tower at the site. Those plans fell through but I believe that XTO will keep the property for future development, it is 1 of 3 dt blocks that they own if I remember correctly. Appaerently Landmark was not properly maintained and then damaged beyond repair during the tornado a few years ago, so there was no use in leaving it standing.
