The Great Southern Hotel Has Been Sold

One of Columbus' most historic structures, the Great Southern Hotel (aka Westin Columbus), has been sold to the Marcus Group of Milwaukee. Marcus plans a complete renovation of the property. Whether or not it will retain its Westin management is another matter. The fiorst thing they should do is return its proper name. I have stayed in this hotel. The building is fantastic, but it does need a lot of work.

That should mean great things for the venerable structure, it is great to see that downtown Columbus is attracting quality redevelopers for some of their landmark buildings!
